The Pieces People Ask Me About Most
When people stay and really feel the space, these are the things they want to know about
Every time someone checks out, I get the same questions.
What are those sheets. Why is the bed so soft. Where are the rugs from. Who did the plunge pool.
So I finally put it all in one place. These are the pieces people ask about the most when they stay in our spaces.
1. The Sheets
100% bamboo and an instant upgrade to your sleep
I used to be a cotton and linen girl. Then bamboo hit the scene and it was a total game changer for the guest experience.
I shifted all our bedding over to 100% bamboo years ago and I have never gone back. It is so soft and luxurious to sleep in, it breathes properly, and it has that cool, silky feeling without being shiny or weird. Guests always comment on the sheets and they always ask where they are from.
Once people sleep in bamboo, they get it.
Soft, breathable, luxurious, and forgiving. Exactly what you want after a long day of travel.

2. The “Why Is This Bed So Soft” Layer
The secret under the sheets
The next question is always some version of this:
“Ok but what have you done to this bed, why is it so soft.”
The answer is the pillow topper. It is literally just a really good quality mattress topper that sits on top of the mattress, under the fitted sheet. You can buy them almost anywhere. The last ones I purchased were from Muscle Mat, but there are plenty of great options around.
It adds that cloud feeling without needing to replace the entire mattress. If you are working with a decent base mattress and then add a topper, it will completely change how your bed feels.

3. The Rugs
Handmade wool, a bit imperfect, and full of warmth
Then come the rugs. The ones people ask about most are in The Lodge at Mt Kanimbla and The Machinery Shed.
These were sourced off Etsy. They are handmade wool rugs made in India and I absolutely love this company. They never disappoint. The colours are warm, the textures feel real, and they can custom make rugs too, which is perfect when you are working with awkward room sizes or want something very specific.
Rugs are such a big part of how a room feels. They soften everything and help pull the whole space together.

4. The Plunge Pools
Small footprint, big impact
The plunge pools we had at Mt Kanimbla are another huge talking point. So many people have small backyards or tricky outdoor spaces and they see these pools as an easy option.
They are compact and beautiful and they photograph like a dream. They make the whole place feel like a destination.
But here is the honest bit. Do not be fooled into thinking a small pool is simple. Putting in a pool is an epic task no matter the size.
There is still excavation, approvals, drainage, plumbing, electrical, fencing, landscaping. All the same moving parts, just on a smaller footprint.
If you are prepared for that, a plunge pool can totally transform a space.

You do not need a full renovation to change how your home feels. Even switching out your sheets, adding a topper, investing in one good rug or planning a future plunge pool can shift the whole experience.
These are the pieces our guests ask about the most, and the ones I recommend again and again.
